At Whimsy Woods, we aim to support families with clear information, calm routines and open communication. Below you’ll find everything you need to know about our daily care, policies and fees.
Whimsy Woods is open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 5:30pm.
We also offer later finishes until 6:00pm.
The nursery is closed on Bank Holidays and for one staff training day per year. These sessions remain chargeable, and we are unable to offer alternative sessions.
We also close for two weeks over the Christmas period. Only Bank Holidays during this time are chargeable.
We offer 3 free settling-in sessions to help your child transition gently into nursery life. These sessions allow your child to become familiar with the environment, routines and carers, while giving parents time to ask questions and feel reassured.
A meet and greet with our team is also included as part of the registration process.
Nutritious meals are provided by an external catering company and prepared in the nursery’s clean kitchen.
We are happy to cater for allergies and food intolerances. Please ensure all dietary needs are shared with us and kept up to date so we can support your child safely.
Children must be handed directly to a member of nursery staff on arrival.
Children will only be released to parents or carers who have been authorised by the main guardian and are known to the nursery. If someone new is collecting your child, parents must notify us in advance and provide the agreed password.
If a child is collected late, a charge of £1 per minute will apply. We understand that delays can happen and will take traffic or train delays into consideration where appropriate.
We recommend arriving 10 minutes before collection time to allow for a calm handover.
Parents are asked to notify the nursery if their child is absent due to illness or holiday.
Unfortunately, fees cannot be refunded or sessions swapped for absences, whether pre-booked or unexpected.
Children who are unwell should not attend nursery.
Please refer to our Sickness and Exclusion Policy for guidance on specific illnesses. All staff are first-aid trained and may administer Calpol in certain circumstances, in line with nursery policy and parental consent.
All items must be clearly labelled. Whimsy Woods cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged belongings.
Parents are responsible for providing:
Spare clothes
Coat
Water bottle
Nappies
Wipes, nappy cream and suncream
Wet suit, hat, gloves and wellies (if needed)
The nursery provides Asda’s own brand wipes, suncream and Sudocrem. If your child can use these products, you will not need to provide alternatives.
We use the Famly app to share updates, documents and important information. Parents are required to complete and keep their child’s details and permissions up to date via the app.
All nursery policies are available in the document section of Famly.
Full day fees: £90
Half days fees: £45
Extra hourly charge (on top of half day and up to three hours): £10 per hour
There is no consumable charges at all charged for this year.
Nursery fees are paid monthly in advance and must be received by the 10th of each month via bank transfer.
Fees are reviewed annually and may increase. Late payment may result in termination of your contract.
All meals are catered for by ‘The kidz clean kitchen’ sample menu below.
There is no additional charge for this.
There is a minimum booking of two days per week.
Yes. One month’s fees are required at registration to secure your child’s place. This acts as a deposit and is held on your Famly account.
The deposit is credited back one to two months before your child leaves, contributing towards the final fees. Deposits are calculated on chargeable days only, excluding government-funded hours.
A £100 registration fee is also required to secure your child’s place and register on the Famly app. Both the deposit and registration fee are non-refundable.
One month’s notice must be given in writing if you wish to end your child’s place or change sessions.
The nursery reserves the right to terminate a contract in the event of a breach, including late payment of fees.
If you have any questions about nursery life, fees or registration, please get in touch — we’re always happy to help.
