At Whimsy Woods, our rooms and curriculum are thoughtfully designed to support children at every stage of early development. We provide a calm, nurturing environment where babies and toddlers feel safe, supported and encouraged to explore the world around them at their own pace.
Our approach is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and shaped by each child’s individual needs, interests and routines.

Blossoming Berries is a warm, nurturing space designed to meet the individual needs of our youngest children. We understand how important routine, comfort and familiarity are at this stage, and our experienced team works closely with families to support each baby’s feeding, sleeping and care routines.
With a maximum of 9 children cared for by 3 adults, babies receive plenty of one-to-one attention, gentle interaction and reassurance throughout the day. A dedicated sleep room allows babies to rest comfortably in a calm environment.
Activities in the baby room focus on sensory play, supervised floor play, early communication and physical development, supporting curiosity and confidence from the very beginning.

This is a warm, nurturing environment that supports the growing independence of children aged 2–3 years. At this stage, consistency, reassurance and familiar routines are especially important, and our experienced team works closely with families to understand each child’s individual needs, interests and stage of development.
Children are supported throughout the day by attentive adults who offer gentle guidance, encouragement and meaningful interaction. Clear, predictable routines help children feel safe and secure, while still allowing plenty of flexibility for exploration, play and rest.
Daily activities focus on imaginative play, early communication, physical development and confidence-building through play-based learning. Children are encouraged to explore, express themselves and develop important social skills, laying strong foundations for the next stage of their learning journey.
The room accommodates up to 20 children, cared for by 4 experienced adults, ensuring children receive the support and attention they need to thrive.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, supporting children’s development across all key areas through play, exploration and meaningful everyday experiences. Learning at Whimsy Woods is never rushed or forced - it happens naturally through curiosity and engagement.
Children learn best when their interests are valued. We follow children’s natural “sparks” - their fascinations, ideas and curiosity - using these as the starting point for activities and learning experiences. This helps children stay engaged, build confidence and develop a love of learning.
We encourage children to explore the world in age-appropriate ways, both indoors and outdoors. From creative activities and sensory play to outdoor exploration and movement, children are supported to develop physical skills, confidence and awareness of their surroundings. We also introduce children to a variety of healthy foods and experiences, helping them build positive relationships with food and understand the world around them.
Outdoor play is an important part of life at Whimsy Woods. Our setting benefits from a large outdoor area, a small wooded space and access to a nearby park, giving children daily opportunities to enjoy fresh air, movement and exploration.
Outdoor activities are adapted to suit both babies and toddlers, supporting physical development, curiosity and wellbeing in a natural environment.
Children’s wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We maintain calm, consistent routines while remaining flexible to meet individual needs. Babies follow their own feeding and sleep routines, while toddlers are supported through gentle transitions, rest times and quieter moments throughout the day.
